REAP is excited to be one of over 40 sites that will be opening their doors to the public on Saturday September 20 for the Open Doors Waterloo Region event. This annual event, which is going into its 12th year, is a free architecture and heritage open house event taking place across the entire Region.
The theme this year is Common Threads, and was initially inspired by the University of Waterloo’s School of Architecture, which is housed in a former silk mill. This is also especially poignant for us as our own lab used to be a felt manufacturing facility, which is one of the reasons we call ourselves the “Felt Lab.”
Our doors will be open between 10am and 4:30pm with full tours showcasing interactive exhibits being offered at the following times: 11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm, and 3:30pm. For an advance preview of some of the technologies we’ll be featuring, check out our home page and check out the Google street view.
Guides are also available for download here. The GRT is also supporting the event by offering a special Family Day Pass that allows travel on all regular routs for only $7.
It should be a fun event, and we look forward to seeing you!
